Life Lately #20

Life Lately #20

So April is over, and May is here, and with it has finally come the nice weather. This past weekend in particular has been beautiful, so it was a shame I was mostly stuck in work! On the whole, April has been a nice, productive month for me…but I’ve discussed the reasons why already in previous posts. To recap: I went on holiday with my boyfriend around the middle of the month to the Lake District, and had a really lovely time (and you can read all about it here). I also took part in Camp NaNoWriMo (and was successful!… Read more »

A Trip To The Lake District

A Trip To The Lake District

Last week I had the week off work for my birthday, and me and my boyfriend spent a few days in the Lake District. We had a lovely time, and the Lakes were as beautiful as ever, so I thought I’d do a quick post all about it, and share a few photographs I took (on my phone, rather than my DSLR, but oh well!). Thankfully Spring finally seems to have sprung here in England, and so for the most part the weather was lovely, except on our first full day there…but I’ll get to that! Seen as we couldn’t… Read more »

So March is over, and April is here, and with it the beginnings of some decent weather! It has been raining off and on here in my corner of England, but there has also been some warmer days mixed in there, which has been nice. Although I live in a very touristy seaside town, and because the kids have been off school for Easter, every time the sun so much as peeped out of the clouds, the town suddenly became heaving, which was annoying. Anyway, March and the early part of April have been pretty uneventful for me. When I’ve… Read more »

Life Lately #18

So considering this is my February ‘Life Lately’ post, I’ve left it pretty late. Mostly because time has really been getting away with me and it only just occurred to me that it’s the middle of March already, and I haven’t done this post! Not that I have a huge amount to report over February, other than the English weather getting pretty crazy. By that I mean a mix of weather ranging from snow, to the usual torrential rain and even the odd sunny day mixed in there. I’m hoping the days will start being consistently brighter soon, seen as… Read more »

A Letter To Myself As A New Blogger

A Letter To Myself As A New Blogger

Dear newbie blogger Laura, Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging! I know you’re nervous, sitting there behind your laptop, staring at your shiny new blog and thinking ‘what have I done?!’, but try not to worry. You may have no idea what you’re doing, but trust me when I say you’re about to embark on a wonderful journey! In typical ‘You’ fashion, you’ve been meaning to do this since forever, but have ‘never got round to it’. Basically you’re scared because you’ve been lurking on the fringes of the blogging world for ages, seeing the way bloggers comment and interact with… Read more »

So, this is actually the second time I’ve written this post! I had an absolute panic on Sunday night when I had a massive problem with my blog. I updated some plugins, which totally messed up the site, but when I tried to restore a back up it then appeared that I had somehow lost every single blog post I’d written in my three and a half years of blogging…it was pretty scary! Thankfully, after I’d had a small meltdown (or you know, a massive meltdown that involved waking my mum up for no reason other than to have someone to… Read more »

5 Ways To Stay Creative On the Go

5 Ways To Stay Creative On the Go

There tends to be this traditional idea of writers and artists as people closeted away from the world in their lonely garret or remote gothic mansion, crafting their masterpieces in isolation… However, in today’s world creatives are generally people who lead busy lives full of jobs, social occasions, family, friends and relationships, and creativity is something they have to squeeze in around these commitments. So in a world where it feels like there’s always something you have to be doing, or somewhere you have to be, how do you manage to stay creative whilst constantly on the go? Personally, I feel… Read more »

Is it me, or does Christmas already feel like ages ago? I always find January to be such a weird month, with the excitement (and stress!) of Christmas quickly fading, as everything seems to go from being busy, busy, busy to just…blah. I did have a really nice Christmas though, and I actually got three days off work over the festive period, which was nice. I worked Christmas Eve which was manic, but was then off on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and the following day. I stayed at my boyfriend’s over Christmas, but we did go to my parent’s house… Read more »

My New Year’s Resolutions 2018

My New Year’s Resolutions 2018

Happy New Year everyone! So here we are: 2018! I always find the start of a new year a strange combination of slightly depressing, yet wonderfully hopeful. Yes, the festive season is over, and everything is going back to normal, but at the same time the year is stretching out ahead, and it feels as if anything could happen. Maybe this will be the best year yet? I’m definitely feeling pretty motivated right now anyway, although I get this way every New Year and end up making a ridiculous amount of resolutions that I’ll have forgotten about by February. That’s… Read more »

I don’t want to start out this post by yelling, BUT HOW THE HELL IS IT LESS THAN THREE WEEKS UNTIL CHRISTMAS ALREADY!? WHERE HAS ALL THE TIME GONE!? Christmas just always feels like one of those things that sneaks up on me: one minute it seems to be ages away, and then suddenly it’s a matter of weeks and you find yourself wondering, ‘what the hell happened to November!’ To be fair, my November has definitely been a busy one thanks to NaNoWriMo and loads of birthdays in my family, including my little niece’s first birthday! My sister threw… Read more »
