5 Things I’ve Missed About Blogging

5 Things I’ve Missed About Blogging

Recently, I’ve been pretty disconnected from the blogosphere: my new home hasn’t got any Wi-Fi set up yet, and thanks to my rapidly dwindling phone data I haven’t even been able to browse Twitter or Bloglovin much. In some ways having this enforced break has been quite nice, as it has definitely relieved the pressure over a period that is quite stressful anyway (moving house), but it has also consolidated my love of blogging. Being unable to post has been so frustrating and has definitely shown me just how much I enjoy blogging, so I thought I’d do a quick… Read more »

A Short Absence

A Short Absence

So, you may have noticed things have become a little sporadic around here in regards to posting (and answering comments in a timely manner!). The reason for that is that I have been pretty busy moving house this past week, and now I’m in my new flat it’s looking like we’re not going to have any Wi-Fi set up for a couple of weeks (I’m currently camped out at my mum and dad’s using their Wi-Fi to post this!). I’m going to try and post the odd thing (using my parents’ Wi-Fi again), but I thought I’d just do a… Read more »

Do you tell people about your blog?

Do you tell people about your blog?

Back when I first started my blog, I didn’t tell anyone about it. I set it up, started posting and never breathed a word of it to anyone else, and I really don’t know why. Oddly it just felt too weird thinking of people I knew reading it, even though they are likely to be the only people you can entice to read your blog at first, when the rest of the world doesn’t know it exists. Eventually after a few weeks, when I had got it looking how I wanted it and had a few posts up, I casually… Read more »

The Best of 2015

The Best of 2015

The end of 2015 is quickly creeping up on us, so I thought I’d take the time to reflect over the past 12 months of blogging and do a quick round up of some of my favourite books I’ve read this year, and some of my favourite posts I’ve written (plus a few blogs I’ve loved reading this year!). I’ll be doing a New Year’s Resolution post on Thursday (New Year’s Eve) as well, but I thought it would be better to use an entire post to look back at the year that has gone (and absolutely flown by if you… Read more »

Do you have a blog schedule?

Do you have a blog schedule?

Well, it’s happening again: I’m attempting a blog schedule. It will run on a two weekly basis and will involve me publishing a post three times a week, the first week’s posts including a book review, a lifestyle post and a list post, and the second a writing post, a bookish/blogging discussion post and a new feature I’m starting called ‘Photos on Friday’ (basically me posting some of my photography). Whether or not I manage to stick to it is another story, discipline having never exactly been my strong suite (I was one of those kids who left their homework… Read more »

The Disorganised Blogger’s Guide to Blogging

The Disorganised Blogger’s Guide to Blogging

I absolutely love reading blogging tips posts. You know the sort: ‘how to get more blog traffic’, ‘how to take better blog photos’, ‘how to be an organised blogger’ etc. It’s almost as if I think the act of reading them will suddenly make me be able to take better blog photos or be a more organised blogger. Unfortunately though, this certainly isn’t the case. There types of posts always inspire me to make goals about how I’m going to post more often, or write more of a certain type of post, but I can’t think of a time when I’ve actually fulfilled… Read more »

A few blog changes…

A few blog changes…

Recently, I’ve been contemplating making a few changes to my blog, and I was hoping to get some readers’ thoughts. I kind of want this space to feel even more ‘me’ than it does already by incorporating more areas of my life into it, other than just the bookish and writing side. I was thinking of occasionally doing personal/lifestyle type posts, and I had considered adding the odd photography or arty post here and there. The literature part of this blog also seem to have fallen more by the wayside in recent months, so I’d quite like to revive that… Read more »

What makes a good blog design?

What makes a good blog design?

Well, I’ve gone and done it again! I’ve redesigned my blog for the fourth time in just over a year. I’ve been getting itchy blog design feet again for a while now, but when I saw this post showing all the beautiful things that can be done with the Tweak Me theme I decided to take the plunge. So far I like what I’ve done with it (particularly the new header – which is just an adaptation of the old header really!), although there are still some tweaks I need to make eg. fix the sizing of all the pictures… Read more »

My One Year Blogoversary!

My One Year Blogoversary!

Today just so happens to be a year from the day when I posted my first blog post and embarked on my great blogging adventure (cue party poppers!). I had been thinking of starting a blog for a long time before I actually did, and so to have a full year of blogging behind me seems like a pretty big achievement. In this past year I’ve read more books than ever and discovered some truly captivating stories, I’ve improved my writing skills and brushed up on my photography, I’ve guest posted and taken part in bookish discussion challenges and NaNoWriMo,… Read more »

Why I Don’t Request ARCs

Why I Don’t Request ARCs

Back when I started book blogging I had no idea what an ARC was. I soon came to know that it was an ‘advanced reader copy’, or a copy of an as yet unpublished book sent out by publishers to bloggers to review. Now this all sounds very exciting, and is widely considered to be one of the greatest perks of book blogging, but personally, I find that they hold little interest for me. That’s right: free books that haven’t even been released yet hold little interest to me. Yes, I strongly suspect I’m crazy too!
