30 Fun Hobbies To Try

30 Fun Hobbies To Try

It’s no secret that I’m a bit of a hobby maniac, or a ‘serial hobbyist‘ as I’ve previously referred to it, in that I just love taking up new, and often very random hobbies. I’ve tried everything from playing various instruments, to numerous crafts, and even sports (which for anyone who knows me, is pretty shocking!), and whilst a majority of them haven’t stuck, I think there’s just something really exciting, and even beneficial about trying something new. In fact, I personally think that hobbies in general are good for… Read more »

Life Lately #8

Life Lately #8

I hope everyone has had a lovely April! Personally, I’ve had a pretty good month! I said in my March update that I’d had a bit of a slow month, and it felt like I hadn’t really done much, so I thankfully managed to turn that round in April. Pretty early on in the month my sister and I, and my little baby niece took a trip to Manchester to do a spot of shopping. We went on the train to avoid the stess of driving (I had a massive… Read more »

30 Things I’d Like To Do Before I’m 30

30 Things I’d Like To Do Before I’m 30

My birthday is in a couple of weeks, and I’m officially going to be 24 years old! I know that isn’t old, but seen as I still feel like some kind of awkward 17 year old inside, it’s always kind of jarring to be reminded of my age, and the fact that I am, in fact, a grown adult. Heading into my mid-twenties has really got me thinking about my next landmark birthday – the big 3-0 – and all the things I’d like to have done before then too. Your… Read more »

Are you a serial hobbyist?

Are you a serial hobbyist?

Over my lifetime, I’ve had a fair share of wide ranging (and sometimes unusual) hobbies, the only two of which I’ve ever really stuck with being reading and writing. I don’t know what it is about me, but I have a tendency to suddenly become super excited about a random new hobby, and then drop it just as quickly when I either A. realise I’m no good at it, or B. just become bored with it. There’s even a bit of a running joke in my family about me and… Read more »

Life Lately #3

Life Lately #3

Life: It seems like so long since I’ve done one of these posts! Probably because whilst things have been pretty hectic recently, it hasn’t been for any particularly interesting reason. Work has just been crazy due to us being super understaffed, and I’ve been busy trying to sort out moving in with my boyfriend. Whilst it’ll be lovely when we’re all moved in and sorted, actually finding somewhere and dealing with all the boring, admin stuff is just such a pain! Not to mention Christmas is now creeping up on… Read more »

Life Lately #2

Life Lately #2

Life: I’m back with another life update! Hooray! I guess the main news these last couple of weeks is that I joined the gym, and whilst that may not seem like big news to people who don’t know me in real life, it’s actually pretty crazy! Although I like nice countryside walks and things like that (basically, Pokemon Go-ing!), in terms of sport and stuff I am the least fit person ever, so the idea of me going to the gym was pretty laughable until this week. However, a new… Read more »

Life Lately #1

Life Lately #1

Lots of bloggers seem to do weekly or monthly updates on life, blogging and reading (I know the Sunday Post is a popular one), and as an incredibly nosey person, I always enjoy reading them! I kind of wanted to start doing some kind of update post myself just to share what I’m currently reading, and what I’m currently up to, but I’m neither interesting enough to have something new to say every week, or organised enough to set up a post on the same day each week. So I’ve… Read more »

The Six Most Common Reactions To Bright Hair

The Six Most Common Reactions To Bright Hair

So today on the blog I’m going wildly different: I’m going to be talking about hair. In particular, bright hair. As you may have noticed from my picture in the sidebar, I have a bit of a penchant for dyeing my hair bright colours, and it changes quite a lot. In fact the blue is actually two hair colours ago, I just hate taking photos of myself, so can’t be bothered updating it with every change (the fact that the above picture is just of a few boxes I’ve had left over… Read more »

What do you want to be when you ‘grow up’?

What do you want to be when you ‘grow up’?

At the grand old age of 22, I guess I’m now what you would call a ‘grown-up’: a full grown, supposedly fully functioning human being who has a full time job, pays rent and council tax and complains about the price of gas and electric. However, in a lot of ways, I still don’t feel quite like an adult. Mostly I just feel lost and adrift and like I haven’t got a clue where I’m heading, but I’m starting to realise that everyone kind of feels like that at times…. Read more »

10 Random Facts About Me

10 Random Facts About Me

1. My parents called me Laura after listening to the Jimmy Nail song ‘Laura’ whilst thinking of baby names. I think the song might actually be a cover, but it goes ‘But now I know, Laura, summer is a lonely place. Oh, Laura, I wish I could see your face.’ You really wouldn’t think there would be much of a story behind having such an ordinary name as ‘Laura’ would you? 2. Some of my earliest works of fiction was a story about talking rabbits and a fantasy tale called ‘The Tewkesbury Tales’. The whole… Read more »
