My Plans for NaNoWriMo 2018

My Plans for NaNoWriMo 2018

So tomorrow is the start of NaNoWriMo 2018, and I’m still a bit undecided as to whether or not I’m actually taking part! I’m about 60,000 words into my current WIP, and have been averaging about 1,000 words a day for the past month or so. My aim was to finish it by December, so I could leave it to rest over Christmas and begin editing it in the New Year. I always love doing NaNoWriMo, as the community aspect is very encouraging and I definitely enjoy the challenge (you know, aside from the parts where you want to tear… Read more »

I won NaNoWriMo 2017!!!

I won NaNoWriMo 2017!!!

I did it! I won NaNoWriMo for the second time! After last week’s struggle I pushed on and finished up those difficult scenes, and really got back into the groove of my story in this final week. In fact, on Monday I set a record for the most amount of words I’ve written in a day (5,005 – which may not be a lot to some people, but it is to me!), and I ended up finishing a day early, having put the final full stop in place last night. I’ve been really enjoying writing this story (a Robin Hood… Read more »

NaNoWriMo 2017: Week 3

NaNoWriMo 2017: Week 3

So, it’s Week 3 of NaNoWriMo, and it’s starting to get pretty tough now! I’m still enjoying writing my story, but I’ve come to a tough bit where lots of new characters are being introduced, so I’m finding it more difficult to get into it. That, of course, means I’m less motivated to write, and it’s becoming more of a struggle. Hopefully, once I’ve got passed this difficult part I’ll get my motivation back, but in the mean time I’m pushing on regardless, and am just about keeping my head above water. I haven’t yet slipped behind, although I’ve been only… Read more »

NaNoWriMo 2017: Week 1

NaNoWriMo 2017: Week 1

The first week of NaNoWriMo 2017 has passed in a blur, and I’m glad to say, I’ve remained consistently ahead all week. There’s plenty of time for that to change, but I’ve been trying to get ahead in this first week before it starts to become too much of a drag! Oddly, I actually started NaNoWriMo 2017 in McDonald’s: I’d been heading back from my boyfriend’s in the morning and had got caught up in loads of traffic, and so stopped at McDonald’s for some stress-relieving breakfast before I continued my journey. I was feeling pretty pumped about the start of NaNoWriMo, so… Read more »

Happy NaNoWriMo 2017!

Happy NaNoWriMo 2017!

It’s here again! It’s that time of year when writers across the world come together with a single goal in mind: to write 50,000 words in 30 days! Yes, I question their sanity, and that’s saying something because I’m one of them! NaNoWriMo 2017 will actually be my third NaNoWriMo (not including Camp NaNoWriMo, which I did in April this year), and will hopefully be my second successful NaNoWriMo: I only managed 42,000 words in 2014, but I successfully wrote the whole 50,000 words last year. Whilst I am currently working on a novel, I’ve decided to start something completely new for… Read more »

My Top NaNoWriMo Tips

My Top NaNoWriMo Tips

Hooray! It’s that time of year again! November is fast approaching, and so millions of writers across the world will be preparing for the month-long writing sprint that is National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo for short. I’ve now done NaNoWriMo twice – firstly in 2014 where I wrote 42,000 words, and last year when I completed the full 50,000 words (plus I did Camp NaNoWriMo in July!) – and so I can personally vouch for just how fun, and rewarding it can be. I love the sense of community it gives, and it has definitely helped me get more… Read more »

It’s NaNoWriMo time!

It’s NaNoWriMo time!

Well, it’s here! It’s officially the 1st of November, and the first day of National Novel Writing Month 2016, or NaNoWriMo for short. All around the world writers will be starting out their novels with the aim of reaching 50,000 words by the end of November, and this year I’m one of them! My last attempt at NaNo was in 2014, where I managed 42,000 words, so I’m crossing my fingers that this year will be my year, and I’ll finally hit that 50,000 word target! Instead of starting a new novel I’m going to try and add 50,000 words… Read more »
