10 Fantasy Books On My TBR List

10 Fantasy Books On My TBR List

I love fantasy, so as you can imagine, my fantasy TBR list is pretty extensive! Whether it’s continuing beloved series, or starting new and intriguing ones, there’s so many books I want to get to, that it’s really hard to know where to start. I feel like I shouldn’t be starting new series before I’ve finished ones I’m already reading, but sometimes it’s just so tempting! Anyway, here’s just a small selection of books of my fantasy TBR. Some of them have been on there since forever, and others are relatively new additions to the list: ‘The Seer of Sevenwaters’… Read more »

Review: Before They Are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie

Review: Before They Are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie

‘“Strange, isn’t it,’ mused Glokta as he watched him struggle for air. ‘Big men, small men, thin men, fat men, clever men, stupid men, they all respond the same to a fist in the guts. One minute you think you’re the most powerful man in the world. The next you can’t even breathe by yourself.”’ It’a been some time since I read the first book in Joe Abercrombie’s First Law trilogy, The Blade Itself, and I can remember enjoying the book, but not being 100% blown away. However now that I’ve finally got round to reading Book 2, I really wish I’d done it… Read more »

‘Did you talk?’ Glokta could’t help himself, he spluttered with shrill laughter… ‘Did I talk? I talked until my throat was raw. I told them everything I could think of. I screamed every secret I’d heard. I babbled like a fool. When I ran out of things to tell them I made things up. I pissed myself and cried like a girl. Everyone does.’ ‘But not everyone survives. Two years in the Emperor’s prisons. No one else lasted half that long.’ I don’t know why when I still have one more book left to read in Joe Abercrombie’s Shattered Sea trilogy, I decided it was… Read more »

Review: Half The World by Joe Abercrombie

‘”In time she will send half the world against us. If we are to resist her, we need allies.” “Where do we find allies?” Father Yarvi smiled. “Amongst our enemies, where else?”‘ It has literally been months since I read Half A King, the first book in Joe Abercrombie’s Shattered Sea series, and I’ve finally read the second book Half The World. Hooray! To be honest, although I loved Half A King I had kind of been putting off reading Half The World because I was worried about the fact it looked (from the blurb at least) as if the… Read more »

Review: Half A King by Joe Abercrombie

Review: Half A King by Joe Abercrombie

‘There was a harsh gale blowing on the night Yarvi learned he was a king. Or half a king, a least.’ Warning: minor spoilers. As a fantasy fan, I have been meaning to read some of Joe Abercrombie’s work for ages, and have had The Blade Itself on my TBR list since forever. However, I happened upon Half A King a couple of weeks ago and liked the look of it, so decided to give it a go. And I was not disappointed! Half A King tells the story of Yarvi, the second and youngest son of the renowned warrior… Read more »
