Do you read books you expect to be mediocre?

Do you read books you expect to be mediocre?

Something that’s truly crazy, but also magical about being a bookworm is that every book you pick up has the potential to be a favourite. It could even end up being life-changing: a story or set of characters that sticks with you for the rest of your life. I mean, it’s weird to think that there was a time in my life before I had ever picked up a Harry Potter book, and fallen in love with the Wizarding World. Or that only a few years ago I had never read Six of Crows and had Kaz Brekker and his… Read more »

Things I’ve Used As A Bookmark

Things I’ve Used As A Bookmark

There’s nothing worse than losing your place in a book, so having something to mark your page is a must. But am I the only one who’s used some pretty random objects to keep my page? Here’s a few of the objects I’ve used as a bookmark: Bookmarks Yes, sometimes I’m normal and use the specific object for the job! I actually have a fair few bookmarks because I used to make them (and sell them on Etsy!), but I haven’t made any in a while (it’s very frustrating trying to cut them out straight!). I still have a good… Read more »

How do you remember what happened in previous books?

How do you remember what happened in previous books?

Recently, I was at my local library, having a browse for some books (since I’ve recently moved, my local library is huge, which is amazing!). It’s not as if I don’t already have enough books at home and on my Kindle to read, but still…the library means free books! You can’t argue with that! Anyway, my eye was caught by the book Windwitch by Susan Dennard, and I was so excited! I read and loved Truthwitch about a year ago, and had been keeping my eye out for Windwitch at the library, or popping up for sale on Amazon. And… Read more »

My Thought Process When Deciding What To Read Next

My Thought Process When Deciding What To Read Next

Reading may be fun, but deciding what book to read next is absolute torture. It is if you’re anything like me anyway! So if you want a look inside the mind of a crazy bookworm, here’s my thought process when deciding what to read next: 1. Panic and feel completely overwhelmed.  The first stage of deciding what to read next is to feel completely overwhelmed by the life-altering decision before me…OK, so it isn’t that bad, but you’d think it was, what with the amount of dithering I do! I’m just very aware when I put down one book that… Read more »

8 Sequels I Still Haven’t Read

8 Sequels I Still Haven’t Read

The other day I was scrolling through my ‘Want To Read’ list on Goodreads, when I noticed something: I am terrible at finishing series. So many of my ‘Want to Read’ books are sequels that I fully intend to read some day. I used to binge read series once I found one that I loved, but I’ve realised that I don’t seem to do that any more. I prefer a break between books in the same series, and perhaps that’s why I’ve ended up leaving so many series hanging? I feel like I have more of an ‘out of sight, out of… Read more »

Do you have to own the books you love?

Do you have to own the books you love?

There’s nothing better than going to the library, picking up a random book, and then absolutely loving it. I mean, you got to read an amazing book for free! What’s not to love? Well if you’re me, then there’s plenty about that situation not to love. Mainly the bit where I have to return the amazing book back to the library and feel oddly sad to let it go, and then get the strange urge to go out and buy a copy of the book I just read for free… Now I very rarely reread books (there’s just too many… Read more »
