Do you have a favourite book?

Do you have a favourite book?

Do you have one book, that you could categorically say is your favourite book? It’s a question that comes up a lot when you tell a non-reader that you’re a reader: “oh, so what’s your favourite book?” Aside from the fact that this question usually causes me to forget every single book I’ve ever read in my life, I genuinely don’t think I could pick one favourite, even with a gun to my head (well…I guess I could lie to avoid getting shot, but still!). The Cruel Prince by Holly Black and One Dark Throne by Kendare Blake were both books I was super excited to read. What’s your preferred length of book?

What’s your preferred length of book?

Recently I was thinking about some of my favourite books and series, and I suddenly realised that most of them are really, really long books! Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix for example is my favourite HP book, and that clocks up to an epic 766 pages! Similarly The Lord of the Rings is several thousands of pages long collectively, George R.R. Martin’s books are generally 800+ pages, and Brandon Sanderson’s first two Stormlight Archive books are 1124 and 1088 pages respectively. So I think it may be fair to say that’s I like big books (and I cannot lie…sorry, that was a terrible pun!)!… Read more »
