A Letter To Myself As A New Blogger

A Letter To Myself As A New Blogger

Dear newbie blogger Laura, Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging! I know you’re nervous, sitting there behind your laptop, staring at your shiny new blog and thinking ‘what have I done?!’, but try not to worry. You may have no idea what you’re doing, but trust me when I say you’re about to embark on a wonderful journey! In typical ‘You’ fashion, you’ve been meaning to do this since forever, but have ‘never got round to it’. Basically you’re scared because you’ve been lurking on the fringes of the blogging world for ages, seeing the way bloggers comment and interact with… Read more »

5 Little Things I’ve Done To Boost My Blog

5 Little Things I’ve Done To Boost My Blog

With my second blogoversary drawing ever closer, I recently decided to really try and step up my blogging (probably because it’s about that time of year when my hosting fees are due – it makes me want to get my money’s worth!). Therefore I decided to make a few little adjustments to my blogging routine to try and keep things more consistent, and hopefully give my blog a little boost in time for its’ second birthday. And to my surprise, my little adjustments seem to have worked! Now we’re not talking about double the page views and hundreds of new… Read more »

How did you choose your blog name?

How did you choose your blog name?

One thing I’ve been trying to do more of lately is discovering and commenting on some new blogs. Whilst checking out some different blogs, the variety of wonderful and inventive blog names I encountered really got me thinking about the process of blog naming. Seen as my second blogoversary is looming, it would have been about this time two years ago when I was wracking my brains to come up with the perfect name for this blog. Whilst I was itching to get started, I knew that choosing my blog name wasn’t a process I should rush – I’d be… Read more »

The Disorganised Blogger’s Guide to Blogging

The Disorganised Blogger’s Guide to Blogging

I absolutely love reading blogging tips posts. You know the sort: ‘how to get more blog traffic’, ‘how to take better blog photos’, ‘how to be an organised blogger’ etc. It’s almost as if I think the act of reading them will suddenly make me be able to take better blog photos or be a more organised blogger. Unfortunately though, this certainly isn’t the case. There types of posts always inspire me to make goals about how I’m going to post more often, or write more of a certain type of post, but I can’t think of a time when I’ve actually fulfilled… Read more »

What makes a good blog design?

What makes a good blog design?

Well, I’ve gone and done it again! I’ve redesigned my blog for the fourth time in just over a year. I’ve been getting itchy blog design feet again for a while now, but when I saw this post showing all the beautiful things that can be done with the Tweak Me theme I decided to take the plunge. So far I like what I’ve done with it (particularly the new header – which is just an adaptation of the old header really!), although there are still some tweaks I need to make eg. fix the sizing of all the pictures… Read more »

Book Blogging Tips For Beginners

Book Blogging Tips For Beginners

In just under a month it will be my first blogoversary (hooray!), and whilst a year of blogging hardly makes me an expert, I feel like I’ve learnt a few things that could help out anyone who is thinking about taking the plunge and starting a book blog (or has already plunged and feels a little lost!). So here are a few tips I would give to those people who are where I was a year ago, and about to embark on a journey into the wonderful (yet totally confusing and crazy) world of book blogging: Choose your platform wisely…. What I’ve Learnt In Two Months of Blogging

What I’ve Learnt In Two Months of Blogging

The other day I realised that I have been blogging for two months! Whilst this is hardly a long time, it’s already starting to feel like I have always been dreaming up fresh blog posts and obsessively checking my blog comments and Twitter feed in my lunch break. It’s certainly been a learning curve, going from a person who is generally fairly inept with computers (I usually just shout my tech-savvy sister to help!) to someone who has successfully set up a blog, and whilst my design is pretty minimalist, it still seems like an achievement! So I decided to… Read more »
