Life Lately #19

Life Lately #19

So March is over, and April is here, and with it the beginnings of some decent weather! It has been raining off and on here in my corner of England, but there has also been some warmer days mixed in there, which has been nice. Although I live in a very touristy seaside town, and because the kids have been off school for Easter, every time the sun so much as peeped out of the clouds, the town suddenly became heaving, which was annoying. Anyway, March and the early part of April have been pretty uneventful for me. When I’ve… Read more »

Life Lately #18

So considering this is my February ‘Life Lately’ post, I’ve left it pretty late. Mostly because time has really been getting away with me and it only just occurred to me that it’s the middle of March already, and I haven’t done this post! Not that I have a huge amount to report over February, other than the English weather getting pretty crazy. By that I mean a mix of weather ranging from snow, to the usual torrential rain and even the odd sunny day mixed in there. I’m hoping the days will start being consistently brighter soon, seen as… Read more »

A Letter To Myself As A New Blogger

A Letter To Myself As A New Blogger

Dear newbie blogger Laura, Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging! I know you’re nervous, sitting there behind your laptop, staring at your shiny new blog and thinking ‘what have I done?!’, but try not to worry. You may have no idea what you’re doing, but trust me when I say you’re about to embark on a wonderful journey! In typical ‘You’ fashion, you’ve been meaning to do this since forever, but have ‘never got round to it’. Basically you’re scared because you’ve been lurking on the fringes of the blogging world for ages, seeing the way bloggers comment and interact with… Read more »

So, this is actually the second time I’ve written this post! I had an absolute panic on Sunday night when I had a massive problem with my blog. I updated some plugins, which totally messed up the site, but when I tried to restore a back up it then appeared that I had somehow lost every single blog post I’d written in my three and a half years of blogging…it was pretty scary! Thankfully, after I’d had a small meltdown (or you know, a massive meltdown that involved waking my mum up for no reason other than to have someone to… Read more »

Is it me, or does Christmas already feel like ages ago? I always find January to be such a weird month, with the excitement (and stress!) of Christmas quickly fading, as everything seems to go from being busy, busy, busy to just…blah. I did have a really nice Christmas though, and I actually got three days off work over the festive period, which was nice. I worked Christmas Eve which was manic, but was then off on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and the following day. I stayed at my boyfriend’s over Christmas, but we did go to my parent’s house… Read more »

Time literally seems to be flying by these days. I mean, how is it November already? October seems to have passed in a bit of a blur, but thankfully I’ve actually got some things to report this month! I started the month with a week off work, which was great, and I managed to do a few things: I met up with my friend who’s just moved back from Canada (and I’ve since been on another day trip out with her!) and went to Chester with my sister and my little niece. Unfortunately, we only realized when we got there… Read more »

How To Juggle Multiple Writing Projects

How To Juggle Multiple Writing Projects

Recently, I seem to be swamped with writing projects. I’ve been trying to working on: My novel. Blog posts for this blog. Blog posts for my freelance writer website. Blog posts to pitch to other websites (to build up my freelance writing portfolio). Short stories for a couple of competitions I want to enter. So, I think it’s safe to say I have a lot on my plate, even if it is all self-inflicted! Because I’ve been trying to juggle so many projects, I’ve been trying to figure out different ways to really maximise my writing time so that I’m… Read more »

August seemed like one of those months where literally all I did was go to work and come home, which kind of sucks. Especially as the weather has been so beautiful, and it really doesn’t feel like I’ve made the most of it. I haven’t done a single summery thing: not one trip to the beach or barbecue! I haven’t even read outside! And now summer is quickly coming to a close, and soon it’ll be all gloomy and rainy again… Although at least then I might feel better about being stuck at work! As I say every month, time… Read more »

Has blogging changed your reading habits?

Has blogging changed your reading habits?

A couple of weeks ago I posted 15 Book Blog Post Ideas, and one of my ideas was ‘has blogging changed your reading habits?’ I hadn’t actually done a post about that topic myself, so I thought it was about time I did! Through book blogging you get to hear about so many more books, are bombarded daily by the latest releases and a litany of reviews, and you get a lot of recommendations from the friends and acquaintances you make through your blog and on social media. However, I hadn’t realised my habits had changed quite as much as… Read more »

Is it me, or does July seem to have flown by? Maybe it’s because I’ve had a fairly eventful month, or perhaps it’s just the shock of realising we’re now over halfway through 2017! I started July with a few days off work to celebrate mine and my boyfriend’s second anniversary, which was definitely a nice start to the month! We chilled out for some of it, but we also went to the cinema to see Spiderman: Homecoming, went to my nephew’s 5th birthday party and had a really nice trip up to the Lake District. My boyfriend had never… Read more »
