Camp NaNoWriMo 2020 Wrap-Up

Camp NaNoWriMo 2020 Wrap-Up

Well, Camp NaNoWriMo is over, and I didn’t win! I’m OK with that though, as I still managed a respectable 40,884 words of my 60,000 word goal, even after really struggling with this story. In my half-way post I said that I was going to have to rewrite the start of the book after going in the wrong direction with it, which I have thankfully now done! I copied and pasted several passages from my original draft (which I noted down and excluded from my Camp Nano word count), but I also completely rewrote a lot of scenes and thankfully,… Read more »

Life Lately #45

Remember six months ago when we were all like: ‘woo, 2020! New decade, new start!’? Seems like a long time ago now, doesn’t it? I think we can all agree that so far, 2020 has sucked. I mean, we’ve been dealing with a literal pandemic that has sent countries into lock downs, interfered with daily life on a huge scale, and sent economies crashing and burning. And we’re not even close to being on the other side of it yet. And then in the past few weeks the news and social media have been reporting the horrific killing of George… Read more »

Life Lately #44

So what can I really say about this past month? With the UK still in COVID-19 lockdown I’ve pretty much just been going to work and coming home, so I haven’t too much to report. I did have a week off work last week though, which I’d booked ages ago. It was a shame that I couldn’t really do anything or go on holiday or anything, but you know what? I feel like I really, really needed that week off. I know that right now a lot of people would give anything not to be cooped up at home, but… Read more »

I won Camp NaNoWriMo 2020!

I won Camp NaNoWriMo 2020!

Hooray! I did it! At the start of the month I set myself a pretty crazy Camp NaNoWriMo goal of writing 60,000 words in the month of April, and I’m so happy (and amazed!) that I actually achieved it! In fact, I technically surpassed it, having written 63,096 words in total. Since I’ve only completed the regular 50,000 word NaNoWriMo a couple of times, this is easily the best month of writing I’ve ever had. I was averaging 2,000 words a day, but there was three days during the month where I did no writing (one of them was my… Read more »

Camp NaNoWriMo 2020: Mid Month Update

Camp NaNoWriMo 2020: Mid Month Update

It’s the middle of April and the middle of Camp NaNoWriMo 2020, so I thought it was time I did a little update on my Camp NaNoWriMo project. I actually set a pretty crazy goal of adding 60,000 words to my WIP for this month’s Camp NaNoWriMo, fully expecting not to hit that goal. It was more of an incentive to at least make some sort of significant progress on my current project, especially since there isn’t much else to do at the moment because of the lockdown. Well, no one is more surprised than me that I’m actually on… Read more »

January seems to have dragged on, as Januaries often do, but on the whole I’ve had a decent month. Work has been relatively quiet and unstressful compared to the Christmas rush, and I’ve been enjoying taking it easier! It also helps that I’ve been off work for two weeks thanks to some annual leave I had to use up (I’m back in tomorrow unfortunately though). I haven’t really done much with my time off to be honest, other than staying at home and chilling in my pyjamas, but I feel like I really needed the break. Plus I got in… Read more »

My 2020 Goals

My 2020 Goals

Happy New Year everyone! Yesterday was the start of a New Year and a new decade, which means it’s time for some goal setting! I’m honestly trying not to go too mad this year, as I’m terrible for excitedly setting all the goals in January and then realising that one person can’t actually keep up with all that for a whole year (and definitely not me…I get super lazy!). So I’ve just chosen a few key things that are important to me, like my writing and blogging, and I want to try and make some kind of progress in those… Read more »
