NaNoWriMo 2017: Week 3

22/11/2017 Writing 2

So, it’s Week 3 of NaNoWriMo, and it’s starting to get pretty tough now! I’m still enjoying writing my story, but I’ve come to a tough bit where lots of new characters are being introduced, so I’m finding it more difficult to get into it. That, of course, means I’m less motivated to write, and it’s becoming more of a struggle.

Hopefully, once I’ve got passed this difficult part I’ll get my motivation back, but in the mean time I’m pushing on regardless, and am just about keeping my head above water. I haven’t yet slipped behind, although I’ve been only just surpassing each daily target.

As of last night I was at 35,093 of the Day 21 target of 35,000 words, and am hoping I can keep it up for the remaining week and a bit of NaNoWriMo, and meet the 50,000 word target. The end is on the horizon, so it would be such a shame to fall behind now!

I’m hoping to do a little better on the blogging front this week too: you may have noticed that I haven’t blogged since last week’s NaNoWriMo update, or answered any comments (I’m getting to it, I swear!). I’ve been that bogged down with my NaNo novel and trying to get through these tough scenes, that I haven’t a had chance, but this week I’m hoping things will get easier.

Anyway, I hope everyone else’s NaNoWriMo is going well! How has your Week 3 been?

I’m at this point with NaNo as well. I swear, this middle section of the book threatens to kill me every time. My first year of NaNo, it succeeded (even though I technically got my 50,000 words, I never did finish that book). Right now, I keep reminding myself that I felt miserable about my book at this point last year as well, and I ended up with something I can be proud of (even if it does need a bit more editing). It’s so tempting to just give up!

Yeah, the middle point is definitely the toughest! I remember it from last year too, but I was still a bit like, ‘is this something wrong with my story? Why am I suddenly finding it so hard!’ when it happened this year. But I’m pretty sure it’s just a tough few scenes, so I’ll push through and hopefully, it’ll get easier.
I’m sure you can get through this tough middle section as well! Best of luck in this final week! You can do it! 🙂
