I did it! I won NaNoWriMo for the second time!
After last week’s struggle I pushed on and finished up those difficult scenes, and really got back into the groove of my story in this final week. In fact, on Monday I set a record for the most amount of words I’ve written in a day (5,005 – which may not be a lot to some people, but it is to me!), and I ended up finishing a day early, having put the final full stop in place last night.
I’ve been really enjoying writing this story (a Robin Hood retelling with a twist!), and I’m really pleased with how it’s going so far, even if I know it’s far from perfect (I fully expect to be doing a lot of cringing when I read it back!). It’s also far from finished – in fact, I think I’m probably only about the midpoint – but I’m really hoping I can keep up the momentum in December and get it finished up soon.
I really do need to think up a proper title for it soon though… Similarly to last year, I was kind of stumped when the certificate wanted you to give your novel’s name because I’m absolutely awful at titles. I don’t think any story I’ve written has ever actually been properly titled because I really am bad at it. For now, this novel has been imaginatively titled ‘Robin Hood’, but I definitely need to come up with something better soon!
I hope everyone else has had a great NaNoWriMo, and have enjoyed writing their stories. Let me know how you got on, or what you’ve been writing this month in the comments! Anyone else have trouble with titles?
