Life Lately #12

August seemed like one of those months where literally all I did was go to work and come home, which kind of sucks. Especially as the weather has been so beautiful, and it really doesn’t feel like I’ve made the most of it. I haven’t done a single summery thing: not one trip to the beach or barbecue! I haven’t even read outside! And now summer is quickly coming to a close, and soon it’ll be all gloomy and rainy again… Although at least then I might feel better about being stuck at work! As I say every month, time… Read more »

Is it me, or does July seem to have flown by? Maybe it’s because I’ve had a fairly eventful month, or perhaps it’s just the shock of realising we’re now over halfway through 2017! I started July with a few days off work to celebrate mine and my boyfriend’s second anniversary, which was definitely a nice start to the month! We chilled out for some of it, but we also went to the cinema to see Spiderman: Homecoming, went to my nephew’s 5th birthday party and had a really nice trip up to the Lake District. My boyfriend had never… Read more »

So the month of June has been fairly uneventful for me. For the most part the weather here has been nice, although this last week its been very changeable. As in, you can go outside in the sunshine in the morning, and be returning drenched and shivering from the rain in your shorts and vest top in the afternoon. Not cool English weather, not cool! One outing I’ve been on this month was to Bury Market with my parents, which I really enjoyed. I always really like looking around markets, and Bury Market is a pretty famous one in the… Read more »

30 Fun Hobbies To Try

30 Fun Hobbies To Try

It’s no secret that I’m a bit of a hobby maniac, or a ‘serial hobbyist‘ as I’ve previously referred to it, in that I just love taking up new, and often very random hobbies. I’ve tried everything from playing various instruments, to numerous crafts, and even sports (which for anyone who knows me, is pretty shocking!), and whilst a majority of them haven’t stuck, I think there’s just something really exciting, and even beneficial about trying something new. In fact, I personally think that hobbies in general are good for us, because modern life is so insanely busy that just… Read more »

I hope everyone has had a good May! I really don’t know why I’m so late with my end of month update, seen as it isn’t like I don’t have anything to write about… But oh well! I think my biggest announcement this month is that I’ve finally finished the novel I’ve been writing! It’s only taken a year, one NaNoWriMo and one Camp NaNoWriMo but I’ve finally done it, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! This is the first full length manuscript I’ve ever finished in the years I’ve been writing, so I think this will really boost my confidence, seen… Read more »

I hope everyone has had a lovely April! Personally, I’ve had a pretty good month! I said in my March update that I’d had a bit of a slow month, and it felt like I hadn’t really done much, so I thankfully managed to turn that round in April. Pretty early on in the month my sister and I, and my little baby niece took a trip to Manchester to do a spot of shopping. We went on the train to avoid the stess of driving (I had a massive meltdown last time I tried to drive in Manchester… Read more »

30 Things I’d Like To Do Before I’m 30

30 Things I’d Like To Do Before I’m 30

My birthday is in a couple of weeks, and I’m officially going to be 24 years old! I know that isn’t old, but seen as I still feel like some kind of awkward 17 year old inside, it’s always kind of jarring to be reminded of my age, and the fact that I am, in fact, a grown adult. Heading into my mid-twenties has really got me thinking about my next landmark birthday – the big 3-0 – and all the things I’d like to have done before then too. Your twenties is generally considered to be this exciting, coming-of-age time… Read more »

March is drawing to a close, and I don’t know why, but its seemed like a really long month to me! Maybe because it feels like one of those months where I’ve done virtually nothing of interest, so I think I really need to make a concerted effort in April to actually get out and do things, especially as the weather is really looking up. I have a week booked off work for my birthday in about three weeks anyway, so I’m really looking forward to that, and hopefully I can make some interesting plans! It would have been nice to… Read more »

Being OK With Being An Introvert

Being OK With Being An Introvert

Let’s face it: the world really isn’t geared towards introverts. From school onwards we’re subconsciously taught that being outgoing, outspoken and sociable is preferable to being quiet, reserved and needing that all-important alone time. From the emphasis on group work in classrooms, to the unspoken rule of ‘the more friends you have, the better you are’ that exists in the school yard, we’re immediately taught that being extroverted is ‘better’. I certainly can’t have been the only one who was constantly getting ‘needs to contribute more in class’ scribbled across their school reports, anyway! Or whose parents were told at every Parent’s Evening that… Read more »

So I’m back with another life update, and I really hope you’ve all had a wonderful February (it’s looking like these updates are going to be a monthly thing, so I’m just going to go with it!)! I don’t know about you, but February seems to have been a much better month than January, in part because of the gradually improving weather (if you ignore the major blip that was Storm Doris, the other day!) and my far higher productivity levels. Not to mention the fact that I just had a week off work, which I think I really needed. Not… Read more »
