Pokemon Shield: First Impressions

Pokemon Shield: First Impressions

So yesterday was release day for the new Pokemon games, Sword and Shield! Hooray! I’ve been pretty excited for this for a while, as I’ve loved what I’ve seen in the trailers, and it’s pretty exciting to get a proper Pokemon game for the Nintendo Switch (not that Let’s Go Pikachu wasn’t fun!). I started playing it last night, and so far I’ve really been enjoying it, so I thought I’d do a little ‘first impressions’ post. I’m still quite early into the game (I think I’m basically as far as the first gym battle), so maybe I’ll do a… Read more »

Life Lately #38

Life Lately #38

November is here, and I am absolutely baffled by how close it is to Christmas already. I always intend to start my Christmas shopping in October, but so far it hasn’t happened, so I’m hoping I can get it all done this month. I really, really don’t want to end up battling my way through busy shops in December, but that’s what always ends up happening! October was quite a busy month though, even without doing any Christmas shopping. It started out with a week off work, which I feel like I really needed. As I spoke about in this… Read more »

Why Setting Goals Works For Me

Why Setting Goals Works For Me

At this time of year, one thing that’s on my mind a lot is goals. For one thing, the end of the year is edging ever closer, so it’s only natural to look back at the past year and think about all the things I have and haven’t achieved. But also, this is the time of year when I’m heading into NaNoWriMo, and right now I’m also winding up Blogtober 2019, which has me thinking about goals, and why I set them. Because the thing is with me, I’m actually super lazy. Or maybe lazy is the wrong word? I… Read more »

A Trip To Scarborough

A Trip To Scarborough

So last week my boyfriend and I went away for a few days to the North East Coast of England, and we had a great time! This was actually a fairly nostalgic trip for me, as Scarborough is somewhere my family holidayed when I was a kid, and so it was lovely to see it again. Plus my boyfriend had never been, so it was nice to explore the place all over again with him! Thankfully the weather stayed nice for most of the week, as an English seaside holiday can go either way really! We stayed on a Haven… Read more »

Life Lately #37

This month had just been a regular, boring old month full of work until a few days ago, when it took a pretty sad turn. My dog of 15 years, Mollie, sadly had to be put down, so its obviously been a sad time for my family. She’d been having problems for the last year or so, mostly with dementia, and it was sad that she didn’t really seem to recognise her own name, and she was constantly falling over and getting herself stuck places. She could no longer walk far, had grown really skinny, and had all sorts of… Read more »

Where the hell has summer gone?! I mean, it’s still fairly warm here and everything, I just don’t know how it’s September already. Where has this year gone, let alone the summer?! Not that I really did much over the last month. Seen as I took time off work at the start of summer (back in July, when we moved house) I’ve mostly just been at work. My boyfriend and I did go on a couple of nice day trips this month though, firstly to Chester. We just had a bit of a wander and a look in the shops,… Read more »

Life Lately #35

So after the excitement of last month (moving house etc.), this month has actually been fairly uneventful. My boyfriend and I have pretty much just been settling into our new home, and trying to find a place for all our things (I got to spend an afternoon just rearranging my books, so that was fun!). Otherwise it feels like all I’ve done this month really is work, but since I’m a postwoman and it’s been quite nice and sunny here in England it hasn’t been the worst thing ever. This is my first summer with an outdoor job, and I’m… Read more »

July is here, and summer is in full swing! I say that, but there have been a few rain showers in the UK recently, but mostly it’s been sunny and unpleasantly humid. I’ve actually had quite an exciting month for a change! I moved house! It all came about so quickly that I didn’t mention it in my last Life Lately because I didn’t even know it was going to happen! I moved in with my boyfriend about six months ago when I finally managed to get a job near to where he lives (I would have had a huge… Read more »

Happy June everyone! It may be the start of summer, but the weather here in England has been a little up and down (that’s England for you though!). Whilst it’s mostly been blazing hot there have been some random, violent rain showers (like the one happening outside my window just now), which considering I’m a postwoman, I haven’t really enjoyed! Hopefully, the weather settles into proper summer weather soon! Although then, of course, I’ll be complaining that it’s too hot. I’ve had quite a quiet month really, although I did go on a couple of nice days out. My boyfriend… Read more »

15 Ways To Use Notebooks

15 Ways To Use Notebooks

I’m Laura, and I have a serious stationery addiction. This is a condition that runs in my family – my Dad is obsessed with pens (seriously, he has boxes and boxes full of them, and my Mum gets annoyed because he always wants to buy more) – and it means I unfortunately cannot enter a shop where they sell any kind of stationery without buying something. Hence the immense collection of notebooks I found rammed into every drawer of my desk when I was packing up to move back in December. Literally, they were everywhere, in every colour and style… Read more »
