Mid Blogtober Update

Mid Blogtober Update

We’re now halfway through Blogtober 2019, so I thought I’d do a mid-month check-in post on how it’s going (yes, this post is probably cheating!). To my surprise, I’ve managed to post every day so far! And that includes the five days I was away in Scarborough, staying in a caravan without Wi-fi (thankfully I had a good phone signal!). It was a massive pain writing blog posts on my phone though… from predictive text constantly changing perfectly ordinary words to random ones, and accidentally deleting half my post when I shut down an internet window, it was far from… Read more »

Another 15 Book Blog Post Ideas

Another 15 Book Blog Post Ideas

One of the hardest things about book blogging is consistently having to come up with new ideas for posts. That’s definitely something I’m struggling with at the moment, as I’m part way through Blogtober, and having to come up with new ideas every day is proving much harder than the actual writing part! So I thought it would be a good idea to brainstorm some ideas, and share them in a blog post for anyone else who’s struggling. I’ve previously done some other blog post ideas posts, so check them out if you need further inspiration: 15 Book Blog Post… Read more »

Blogtober 2019

Blogtober 2019

Last month I posted a blog post all about the terrible blogging slump I’ve been going through recently, and how I hoped to crawl my way out of it…and then I promptly continued to hardly post anything on my blog, because I’m just the worst! So I’ve decided it’s time for drastic measures: a blogging challenge! NaNoWriMo has always given me a massive productivity boost in terms of my fiction writing, so I thought taking part in Blogtober would be like the blogging equivalent. For anyone who doesn’t know, Blogtober takes place in October, and is a challenge in which… Read more »

Blogging Slumps Suck

Blogging Slumps Suck

So, for the past few months I’ve been stuck in a seemingly never-ending blogging slump, and it seriously sucks. It all started back in December when I went through a lot of major life changes – moving to a new city, starting a new job etc. – and I found I just had less time and mental energy for blogging. At the time, that was totally understandable, but it’s now eight months later, and I feel like I never really got my blogging mojo back. I tend to have the odd period of productivity, and then it all goes downhill… Read more »

Life Lately #32

Life Lately #32

Happy May everyone! I can’t believe we’re nearly halfway through the year already! Crazy! This month, in particular, seems to have flown by, as I’ve have had quite a bit of time off work (which always makes time go faster!). As well as the Easter bank holidays I also had a week’s annual leave from work in honour of my birthday! Unfortunately, I couldn’t get my actual birthday week off, so ended up spending my birthday at work (fun times!), but I did plenty of nice things in lieu of it the following week whilst I was off. I had… Read more »

How To Find Ideas For Discussion Posts

How To Find Ideas For Discussion Posts

Beginner book bloggers could be forgiven for believing that book reviews are the bread-and-butter of book blogs, but when you’ve been around a little longer, you know differently. Because let’s face it: book reviews are generally some of the worst performing posts on a book blog, which isn’t surprising when you think about it. Book reviews rely on your blog readers being interested in that one single book, whereas other types of posts – discussions for example – have a much wider appeal. They’re also, in my opinion, a lot more fun to write, and the level of engagement you… Read more »

Life Lately #31

Life Lately #31

We’re already partway through April, and as per usual, I’m wondering where the time has gone. I feel like March flew by, and I didn’t really do a whole lot other than work! I did meet up with my friend a couple of weeks back though, and it was so nice to see her, as I hadn’t seen her since before Christmas. We’ve always been really close – we used to live together! – but since we live quite far apart now we don’t see each other all that often, so it was nice to have a catch up (and… Read more »

My 2019 New Year Resolutions

My 2019 New Year Resolutions

Happy New Year everyone! It’s officially January, the time of year when everyone is briefly super motivated to do all the things they’ve been meaning to do, like get fit and quit smoking/drinking/chewing their nails! Not that I can really say anything: I’m one of the worst people for getting that ‘New Year, new me’ buzz, and then having let it all fall by the wayside by the time February rolls in. Most years since starting this blog I’ve written a New Year’s resolution post, and I’ll be the first to admit, I haven’t always stuck with them. That’s why… Read more »

My Best Reads of 2018

My Best Reads of 2018

Here we are again! The end of another year! I’m sure I’ll blink and it’ll be time to write my ‘Best Reads of 2019’ post, as that’s the way it feels these days. The years fly by! On the whole, this year has been a pretty good year for me, mostly because of the final month, where I started my new job and finally got to move in with my boyfriend! This feels like the first year in a long time where something has actually changed, and it feels like I’ve made some sort of progression. I’m still finding my… Read more »

I’m taking part in the 2019 Book Blog Discussion Challenge!

I’m taking part in the 2019 Book Blog Discussion Challenge!

I don’t take part in many blog challenges, but for the past few years I’ve been taking part in the Book Blog Discussion Challenge hosted by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction and Shannon @ It Starts At Midnight, and it’s so much fun I’m doing it again this year! Discussion posts are easily my favourite type of blog posts to both read and write, and the Discussion Challenge is a great way to find loads of interesting bookish discussions, and share your own. I’ve actually found so many great blogs and bloggers through the Discussion Challenge, and it’s really… Read more »
