In the last couple of years, I’ve got really into podcasts, and I recommended five of my favourite writing-related shows a while back in a post called 5 Great Podcasts for Writers. I’ve since discovered loads of new podcasts, and so I thought I’d do a second edition of this post, and share some more great shows for writers!
So here’s 5 More Great Podcasts for Writers:
- The Worried Writer
I first discovered the Worried Writer podcast when its’ host, author Sarah Painter, appeared as a guest on The Creative Penn podcast (which I recommended in my original list). I loved the interview with her, and I liked the sound of her own podcast, where she interviews authors and specifically questions them on their writer worries and anxieties. I can really relate to a lot of what Sarah says when she talks about being a ‘Worried Writer’, and so as a show it’s very comforting to know that so many other writers feel the same. Not to mention it’s full of great tips and advice!
- Petal To The Metal
Petal To The Metal is a writing podcast hosted by writers Rachael Herron and J. Thorn, and is such a fun and chatty show! You can tell the co-hosts are great friends, and have a good laugh, and I’ve often found myself smiling away to this one in my car. They ask each other a writing related question every week and then discuss it, so it’s full of great writing advice and tips too!
- How do you write?
The ‘How Do You Write?’ podcast is a very recent discovery for me (as in, I started listening to it last week!), but so far I’ve been loving it! I discovered it through the Petal To The Metal podcast as Rachael Herron is actually the host of this one, and in the show she interviews writers about their writing process. I always love hearing about how other writers write, so this is a great show for nosey people like me!
- The Copywriter Club
This podcast isn’t particularly useful for fiction writers, but for anyone interested in copywriting and freelance writing this one is a must! Hosted by Kira Hug and Rob Marsh, each show contains an interview with a writing professional about how they got their start, their work processes and their businesses. All super useful information for all you freelancers out there!
- Being Boss
Being Boss isn’t exactly a writing podcast, but I’ve found it to be super useful (and fun) and there are several episodes in the backlist that are specifically about writing (like the one with Grant Faulkner about NaNoWriMo). Hosts Emily Thompson and Kathleen Shannon talk about building your creative business, productivity, being your best creative self and just generally Being Boss, all of which can relate to writing! Not to mention it’s just a fun, and super inspiring show!
So do you listen to any of these podcasts? Are there any others that you would recommend?
