In the past few years I’ve discovered the wonderful world of podcasts, and I now listen to them most of the time when I’m in my car on the way to work, or through my earphones when I’m walking the dog. They’re a great way of getting that much needed dash of inspiration, and learning through other people’s experience.
Whilst I listen to quite a variety of podcasts, I primarily listen to writing-related podcasts, and I’ve previously shared some favourites in my posts ‘5 Great Podcasts for Writers‘ and ‘5 More Great Podcasts for Writers‘. However, since writing the last post I’ve discovered even more incredible writing podcasts, and I’d love to share them with you!
So here’s 3 more great podcasts for writers:
- 88 Cups of Tea
88 Cups of Tea with Yin Chang has quickly become my absolute favourite writing podcast! For one thing, the authors that are on there are usually authors I’ve heard of, and in a lot of cases have actually read some of their books, which really helps me understand when they’re talking specifics. Past guest include authors like V.E. Schwab, Sarah J. Maas, Marie Lu, Sabaa Tahir, Victoria Aveyard, Holly Black and Tomi Adeyemi.
But one of the main reasons I love 88 Cups of Tea so much is that the host, Yin Chang, is just such a great interviewer! She asks the exact questions you’d want asked if you were there, she’s super upbeat, and the interviews are always really in-depths. Also the interviews are always non-awkward…I’m such an awkward person that interviews can sometimes make me cringe a bit, but I’ve never had that listening to 88 Cups of Tea. I can’t recommend this podcast enough!
- The Honest Authors’ show
This podcast is a very recent discovery, but I’ve literally binged most of the episodes in the past few weeks, after I found out about it through the Worried Writer podcast (which I recommended in my last writer podcasts post!).
The Honest Authors’ show is co-hosted by authors Gillian McAllister and Holly Seddon, and whilst it sometimes includes a guest, I actually prefer the episodes where it’s just Gillian and Holly chatting. As the title suggests, they discuss the truth behind being an author, from the writing process and submission hell, to second-book struggles and book launches. This is definitely essential listening if you’re seriously looking into becoming a professional author!
- Helping Writers Become Authors
This podcast was actually recommended to me in the comments section of my first podcast post, and I’ve been finding it really helpful. K.M. Weiland goes into detail about different aspects of the writing craft, and consistently gives incredibly helpful advice on everything from plotting to creating characters and writing habits.
Whilst I generally struggle not to get bored and let my mind drift when listening to podcasts that are just one person talking, that never happens with this one. I’d definitely recommend it!
So do you listen to many podcasts? Have you ever listened to any of these? Have you got any other podcasts recommendations?
