Hooray! Another Camp NaNoWriMo comes to a close today, and thankfully I managed to hit my word count target last night.
My goal this time was to add 30,000 words to my WIP, which was 58,000 words long at that time, and I successfully did this! I made it to 30,100 last night, which puts my entire manuscript up to 88,100 words.
I’ve found the target of 1,000 words a day fairly manageable, although there was inevitably days when I struggled to fit it in, or where I really didn’t feel like it (I was occasionally only forcing myself to sit down and do my daily word count at about 10 o’clock at night!). However, I’m hoping to keep up this pace now Camp NaNo is over, and push on to the end of my draft, because I’m nearly there!
I’m now in the middle of the climactic events of my Robin Hood retelling (imaginatively titled ‘Robin Hood’ on the certificate, because so far it doesn’t have a name…and yes, I am one of the nerds who fills out the certificate!), so I’m hoping to be putting that final full stop onto the page soon…and then comes the editing.
So how has your Camp NaNoWriMo, or writing project gone this April? What have you been writing?
