Photos on Friday #1: Books

Photos on Friday #1: Books

Welcome to my first Photos on Friday post! This two-weekly feature is pretty much what it sounds like: I post photos on a Friday. Simple! I’m far from an expert photographer, but I’m hoping committing to posting my photos on here every other week will get me taking more and more photos and hopefully I’ll improve. This week I’ve been photographing some of my books, including some that I have recently enjoyed and some that are in my TBR pile.  Enjoy! I have recently been reading Conn Iggulden’s amazing ‘War of… Read more »

Where has 2015 gone?

Where has 2015 gone?

Now here’s an interesting question: where the hell has 2015 gone? Is it just me who feels like last Christmas was literally a few weeks ago and gets a massive shock when they realise the next one is quite literally staring them in the face? Where did all that time go? Where did January go? And February? And all those other months? How is it now December? The oddest thing is that so much has happened this year, that it should really feel like a lifetime since last year, but it doesn’t…. Read more »

I opened an Etsy shop!

I opened an Etsy shop!

Today’s post is just a quick one to announce that I’ve opened an Etsy shop! Hooray! I’ll be selling a range of book-themed bookmarks I’ve made through my shop, Bookish Wonders, and hopefully I’ll have art print versions of all my designs up there soon too. I had a lot of fun making these, splashing around paint and messing about with pretty typography, so it will just be a nice bonus if I manage to sell a few. My designs are all printed onto card and laminated, and have quotes… Read more »

What do you want to be when you ‘grow up’?

What do you want to be when you ‘grow up’?

At the grand old age of 22, I guess I’m now what you would call a ‘grown-up’: a full grown, supposedly fully functioning human being who has a full time job, pays rent and council tax and complains about the price of gas and electric. However, in a lot of ways, I still don’t feel quite like an adult. Mostly I just feel lost and adrift and like I haven’t got a clue where I’m heading, but I’m starting to realise that everyone kind of feels like that at times…. Read more »

A Trip to Chester Zoo

A Trip to Chester Zoo

On Saturday my boyfriend and I decided to take a little day trip up to Chester Zoo, so I thought I’d do a quick post to share some of my animals snaps! It was a fairly overcast day, so at first a lot of the animals seemed to be hiding (and going to a zoo and seeing no animals is just the worst!), but thankfully by the end of what was a lovely day, we had seen all the animals we wanted to see. Elephants, lions, tigers, monkeys, giraffes, penguins,… Read more »

10 Random Facts About Me

10 Random Facts About Me

1. My parents called me Laura after listening to the Jimmy Nail song ‘Laura’ whilst thinking of baby names. I think the song might actually be a cover, but it goes ‘But now I know, Laura, summer is a lonely place. Oh, Laura, I wish I could see your face.’ You really wouldn’t think there would be much of a story behind having such an ordinary name as ‘Laura’ would you? 2. Some of my earliest works of fiction was a story about talking rabbits and a fantasy tale called ‘The Tewkesbury Tales’. The whole… Read more »
