15 More Book Blog Post Ideas

15 More Book Blog Post Ideas

A while ago I wrote a post called 15 Book Blog Post Ideas, and it turned out to be one of my most popular posts ever. Lots of people said they found it useful, so I thought it was about time I went through my little notebook of blog post ideas and came up with a second edition! So here’s another 15 book blog post ideas: Who would you have at your author tea party? Are there any authors you’d just love to sit down and have a cup of tea with? Who would you choose and why? Do you prefer… Read more »

15 Bookstagram Prop Ideas (+ Bonus Background Ideas!)

15 Bookstagram Prop Ideas (+ Bonus Background Ideas!)

So recently I’ve been on Instagram a lot more, and I’ve been really enjoying getting more creative with my photos, and seeing what other people are doing. One thing that seems to make or break a good bookstagram photo is the props used, whether you use lots, or a select few (I’m pretty minimalist with mine, but some people have tonnes of props in their photos!). So I thought I’d do a quick list of some prop ideas that I’ve either seen, or used myself, in case you’re looking for some new ideas for your photos! Of course, you don’t… Read more »

5 Skills I’ve Improved Through Blogging

5 Skills I’ve Improved Through Blogging

Blogging is great fun and a really worthwhile thing to do if you want to share your interests with the world and find a community of like-minded people. If you want to Start a blog, while there are some tips that I think you’d need to be successful, I would definiely say DO IT! Three-and-a-half years ago when I set up this website, all I wanted to do was get my message out there and share my story with the world, but I could never have foreseen the many other benefits. In fact, one of the biggest benefits I’ve found… Read more »

A Letter To Myself As A New Blogger

Dear newbie blogger Laura, Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging! I know you’re nervous, sitting there behind your laptop, staring at your shiny new blog and thinking ‘what have I done?!’, but try not to worry. You may have no idea what you’re doing, but trust me when I say you’re about to embark on a wonderful journey! In typical ‘You’ fashion, you’ve been meaning to do this since forever, but have ‘never got round to it’. Basically you’re scared because you’ve been lurking on the fringes of the blogging world for ages, seeing the way bloggers comment and interact with… Read more »

How do you follow other blogs?

How do you follow other blogs?

At the end of last year, I was kind of a bad blogger. I didn’t post much, I was slow replying to comments and I wasn’t really commenting on other blogs much, or even keeping up to date with my favourites. I was in a bit of a blogging slump, to be honest, partly triggered by being ridiculously busy and exhausted over November and December, and partly because it just happens every now and then. You can’t be super inspired all day every day, and I had a bad couple of months. Thankfully the New Year seems to have reinvigorated… Read more »

Has blogging changed your reading habits?

Has blogging changed your reading habits?

A couple of weeks ago I posted 15 Book Blog Post Ideas, and one of my ideas was ‘has blogging changed your reading habits?’ I hadn’t actually done a post about that topic myself, so I thought it was about time I did! I’ve actually noticed quite a lot of significant changes in my reading habits since I started blogging three years ago, and really it isn’t surprising. It that time so many people have taken up the art of blogging. It is always a good idea to check out some reviews in your area beforehand. For example, searching website… Read more »

It’s my 3rd Blogoversary!

It’s my 3rd Blogoversary!

Three years ago today I set up this blog and pressed publish on my ever first post. My theme was awful, my photography was awful and my post was even more awful – it was literally just a book quote – but it didn’t matter. I had discovered blogging and I loved it! Three years later and I still love it, which given my track record for starting and then quitting things is actually pretty insane! In fact, if someone had told me back then in 2014, as I clumsily designed my first blog header that I would still be here three… Read more »

How Blogging Improves Your Writing

How Blogging Improves Your Writing

In my two and a half years of blogging, I’ve learnt so much about so many things: I’ve learnt how to use social media and Wordpress, how to design a blog, how to take and edit photos, and I now know what the acronyms TBR, ARC and DNF mean (vital life skills right there!). But more than anything blogging has allowed me to really hone my writing skills, which is pretty awesome seen as I want to be a writer! In fact I’d recommend blogging as a hobby to anyone who wants to up their writing game, and I thought I’d do… Read more »

Life Lately #3

Life Lately #3

Life: It seems like so long since I’ve done one of these posts! Probably because whilst things have been pretty hectic recently, it hasn’t been for any particularly interesting reason. Work has just been crazy due to us being super understaffed, and I’ve been busy trying to sort out moving in with my boyfriend. Whilst it’ll be lovely when we’re all moved in and sorted, actually finding somewhere and dealing with all the boring, admin stuff is just such a pain! Not to mention Christmas is now creeping up on the horizon, which means I’m really going to have… Read more »

How do you stay inspired?

How do you stay inspired?

Recently, I’ve just been feeling so uninspired. I’ve only really been posting once a week on here due to my lack of motivation, and reading itself has seemed a chore at times. Plus my novel writing has yet again ground to a halt: it literally feels like every time I say ‘hey, my novel is going well!’, I’m bound to lose the plot almost immediately. I’m not even entirely sure what the problem is. Maybe it’s just because it’s been a stressful couple of weeks with one thing or another (job interviews, family stuff, life decision stuff, etc.), or maybe it’s… Read more »
