3 Books I’m Anxiously Awaiting

3 Books I'm Anxiously AwaitingOddly for a book blogger, I don’t read too many new releases. In fact I always seem to be hopelessly behind the times, only reading a book that has been really popular a year or so after every one else (and I’m exactly the same with TV shows – I’m finally making my way through ‘Breaking Bad’ right now, a good 3 years after everyone else!).

However, there are a few books I’ll definitely be reading as soon as they come out, and they’re all books in series I’ve absolutely adored! For the most part I prefer reading series that are already completed just so I can binge them, but sometimes I’ll make an exception, or not realise that the series I’m starting is incomplete, and then I’ll literally end up on the edge of my seat, waiting for the book to come out.

So here are three books I’m waiting on the edge of my seat for!

  • Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass Book 5) by Sarah J. Maas

The Throne of Glass series has quickly become one of my absolute favourites, and I am super excited that I literally only have one more day to go before the release of Book 5! Something I love about Sarah J. Maas (aside from the fact she writes one of my favourite series!) is that she releases the next book in the series like clockwork every year, so you know there will be no indefinite waiting and waiting for the book to come out.

And thanks to her now writing another series that I absolutely love, I know I’ll get at least two exciting book releases every year. Hooray!

  • The Winds of Winter (A Song of Ice and Fire Book 6) by George R.R. Martin

I’m slightly less excited about this book than I would have been if I didn’t already know what happens in it thanks to the TV show, but I’m definitely interested to see how the book is going to differ. A Song of Ice and Fire is another of my all-time favourite series, and this book has been such a long time coming that it will be a very exciting day for me when this one is finally released!

  • Oathbringer (The Stormlight Archive Book 3) by Brandon Sanderson

After loving the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson so much last year, I read the first two Stormlight Archive books not realising that they were part of a still incomplete series, and have been literally jumping up and down in anticipation of the third ever since. The series so far has absolutely blown me away with the imaginativeness of the world it’s set in and I’m pretty much in love with all of the characters! I’m dying with anticipation to find out what happens next!

There’s been no official release date given for the third book yet, but on Sanderson’s website it says that the first draft is 73% done, and that a related novella is completed, so it must be on the horizon! I really couldn’t say whether I’m more excited about this one, or Empire of Storms!

So which books are you eagerly anticipating? Are any of these three on your list?

If I had realised the second one was the last released book I would probably have waited too. Now I’m just on the edge of my seat waiting for the next one to come out!

Ugh, I totally understand the waiting-until-it’s-complete reading. I miss out on some of the cool stuff that pops up in the bookish community as new books release, buuUUuut then I’d be so impatient waiting to see the next installment…in, like, a year?? So I usually go for complete series. Or if the books can be read as stand-alones, that’s fine.

None of these are on any sort of anticipate releases list I have because I’ve never read any of the books… I’m waiting until ToG and ACoTaR are complete before jumping in. But I’m anticipating Heartless, Timekeeper, the last one for ADSoM so I can read the series, and an m/m novel that’s been under wraps…all he said is that it’s supposed to crush our hearts into pieces and be really hard to put it back together…
Those are some off the top of my head 🙂

I get so impatient too (as my wait for these three prove) so I try and just stick with the complete series. I sometimes feel like I’m missing out too though, so I get what you mean there.
I really hope your anticipated releases live up to your expectations when you finally get to read them! 🙂

I have not started on any of these series – in fact I’m not reading much fantasy lately. I’m sure I will at some point, so I may be checking out some of these!

I AM eagerly awaiting the next in Megan Whalen Turner’s Thief series, but she’s no Sarah J. Maas, so there’s no saying how long we’ll have to wait! And I heard there is a sequel coming to The Golem and the Jinni, but it’s going to take a couple of years. Oh, and the complete illustrated edition of the Earthsea books, also a year or two away. I think I need to find something that’s coming out sooner.

I really hope you enjoy them if you read them! 🙂
I hate that when you have no idea how long you’re going to have to wait! It’s so frustrating! I hope the next book is out soon. Although it isn’t much better when you know when a book is coming out, but know it’s a long way away, like the sequel to The Golem and the Jinni. I’m sure it will be worth the wait though!
And i really do need to hurry up and read the Earthsea books! They’ve been on my TBR list since forever! 🙂
